Theater artist and indie film actor supports lumad schools

Brian Arda is a theater practitioner from the University of the Philippines - Manila. He enjoys participating in theater productions because, for him, the theater, as a form of art, is a powerful medium for educating and influencing the people.

His theater credits include:
  • for UP Playwrights’ Theater - KOMEDI (Psychedelia Apocalypsis), written by Nick Pichay and directed by Tony Mabesa;
  • for Dulaang UP - The Duchess of Malfi, HAMLET/REDUX; Passion of the Christ/Pasyon ni Kristo; and Maria Stuart, all of which were directed by Tony Mabesa;
  • for CCP’s Virgin Labfest 8 – Hayop, directed by Erik Matti;
  • other productions - The Boor for Dulaang Laboratoryo; KM@40 directed by Bonifacio Ilagan; CEU’s Welcome to IntelSTAR (voice over); Pagsambang Bayan 2009 directed by Behn Cervantes; Mrs. B (as Jonas Burgos); Uyayi sa Digmaan (excerpt) presented by Tag-Ani Performing Arts Society Inc. at the CCP last November 2008.

He has also been part of several indie films like: Ceasar Buendia’s Padre de Pamilya; Joel Lamangan’s Dukot, Sigwa, Deadline (Reign of Impunity); Menor de Edad, Burgos, and recently, Lihis.

He was also part of the First Sineng Pambansa film entry Malan (directed by Benjie Garcia) which was shot entirely in places around Davao, Davao Oriental, and Davao del Norte.
